What exactly is Aminogen and how is it beneficial?
Aminogen is a special patented protein-digesting enzyme blend that can help you get the most out of your whey protein while eliminating any bloating or constipation.
High protein diets have become increasingly popular among people looking to increase or maintain lean muscle mass while decreasing body fat. Whey protein is one such protein that’s beneficial for many reasons because it’s easy to eat and simple to prepare (no cooking required!). However, digestion, and thus, absorption of amino acids (the building blocks of protein) from whey, may be comprised somewhat by production techniques used to make whey from dairy foods. Thus, additional protein digesting enzymes, known as proteases, can aid the normal digestive process and reduce any side effects from undigested proteins (like gas and cramping).
Aminogen is one such protease blend that’s derived from all-natural sources: the fungi Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus oryzae. These unique fungi are regularly used in the food production and pharmaceutical industries to make items such as citric acid and glucose oxidase.
The addition of Aminogen to whey protein, such as is done in Prograde Protein, is scientifically proven to improve digestion and retention of protein within the body. In one university study, Californian researchers showed that Aminogen added to a serving of whey protein significantly increased total serum amino acid concentrations by 2-fold in healthy men, while significantly reducing nitrogen excretion by 3g/day – nitrogen excretion is a marker of nitrogen (from protein) retained in the body to promote muscle protein growth, with less excretion indicating more protein retention and more protein synthesis. Another benefit shown from this additional Aminogen was a significant 10% reduction of blood C-reactive protein levels 4 hours after taking in the whey plus enzymes. C-reactive protein is a non-specific marker of whole body inflammation that when elevated indicates increased risk for inflammatory diseases such as cardiovascular disease.
Another benefit of Aminogen is that it reduces some of the gas, bloating, cramping and/or constipation that can occur when some people eat a higher protein diet and include whey protein products. As some people know, this protein “gassiness” is not a pleasant side effect, so Aminogen is a sought-after addition.
Overall, Aminogen is a valuable component to whey protein products, like Prograde Protein. It can help you digest and absorb more amino acids, which will then assist you in building and repairing your precious hard-earned lean body muscle.
